Windsor Farms is a planned community started in 1926, in the City of Richmond designed to emulate an old English village. Windsor farms curvy streets and old English names such as Canterbury and Dover as a throwback to England artitecture and neighborhoods.
Windsor farms was developed by Thomas C. Williams. He converted his 25 acre family farm located along the banks of the James River known as Windsor.
Located in Windsor Farms is Agecroft Hill, An English Manor home built in the 15th centrury. In 1925 the home was disassbled, moved to Richmond, and reassembled in Windsor Farms. During reassmbley, the home was reconfigured in a more modern style for function and comfort. Cost to move and reconfigure the home is said to have been $250,000which was a great sum of money at the time.
